Sadness at sudden death

One of our councillors, Robert Kinghorn, from the Chiswick Riverside ward, sadly passed away last week. He had served as a councillor for over 20 years, working hard for his constituents.

I met him first in the early 90s when I first became a member of the Conservative Party and lived in Chiswick. He was unique and charming, well-informed and conscientious. Robert was an example of someone who was really committed to the Party and had a great knowledge of education and transport. He had previously stood as a parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party in Blyth Valley in 1987 and Norwich North in 1997.

I saw him last at the Party Conference this month in Blackpool. He had told his doctor that he was going to have a "few quiet days by the seaside"! The doctor did not realise that Robert was going to be chairing several transport meetings and attending many other meetings whilst he was there.

He will be a loss to the Party and a loss to all who knew him. My thoughts go to Rosemary, his wife, and his family.

The funeral will take place at 11am on Wednesday, 31st October, at St Nicholas, Chiswick Parish Church.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Roberts death last week. Robert was one of the first people I met when I joined the Association about 15 years ago. He was always very keen to be involved in all aspects of the Association.

His humour and knowledge will be greatly missed both by the Association and his fellow councillors.

My heart goes out to Rosemary and the boys at this difficult time.

I was totally shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely death of Robert Kinghorn. I had known Robert for over 20 years and in fact was on the selection panel that chose him to stand for council in 1986.

Robert was a very kind person, very witty and also an intellectual powerhouse. He totally mastered any brief he took on and gained the total respect of his fellow councillors and officers. He was a pivotal part of both Hounslow Council and the Brentford and Isleworth Conservative Association. He will be greatly missed.

My thoughts are with Rosemary, James and Philip at the very sad and difficult time.
